Substance Abuse and the Workplace:
A two-hour workshop in
which participants will be provided information on impact of alcohol
and other drug use and abuse in the workplace. Includes safety
issues, productivity issues, and coworker relationship issues.
Prevention staff will coordinate with your management and supervisory
teams to customize the training to your particular policy and
procedure needs.
Healthy vs. Unhealthy Relationships:
A two-hour workshop that describes the components of relationships
at work and with family. Utilizes a proactive approach that assists
participants in identifying the healthy and unhealthy behaviors
that they and/or those around them exhibit and provides practical
and useful skills for creating healthy relationships. This workshop
consists of information/education and practical/role playing segments.
Drinking, Drugging, and Driving:
This two-hour workshop will cover the topics of alcohol and its
effect on the user, binge drinking and its risks, and the risks
and liabilities related to drinking and driving. Workshop includes
timely information on New York State drinking driver laws and
what constitutes driving under the influence. Also includes useful
and descriptive information about alcohol use, abuse, and so-called
"binge" drinking.
Conflict Resolution: A two-hour
workshop designed to provide participants with the knowledge and
skills necessary to resolve conflicts on the job and in their
personal life. Participants will examine the common causes of
conflict. They will also begin to examine their own values and
determine how those values might affect their ability to avid
and/or resolve conflicts. The extensive skill-building/role play
nature of this workshop provides participants with the opportunity
to utilize newly acquired skills and knowledge.
Smoking Cessation: A
four-week, American Cancer Society program called "Fresh
Start." "Fresh Start" can be provided for employees
or employee's family members. The course provides participants
with information on the addictive nature of nicotine. The program
includes information on the health concerns caused by the use
of tobacco, including smokeless tobacco. Participants will be
provided with the opportunity to learn practical ideas and skills
that will help them successfully cope with the physical and psychological
symptoms that they are likely to encounter while attempting to
quit tobacco. (Cost often covered by the participant's health
insurance.)
Depression: A one-hour workshop
designed to provide participants with basic information about
depression. The training will differentiate between typical feelings
of sadness or anxiety and the illness of depression. Common causes
of depression will be discussed. Symptoms of depression and established
methods for controlling depression will also be examined.
Family Wellness: This is a
90-minute workshop designed to provide participants with the knowledge
and skills necessary to develop healthy and functional relationships
within their families. Topics include an identification of risk
factors and protectors that either minimize risk and promote family
health. Topic areas include creating and maintaining healthy communication
in the family, creating a healthy environment in the home, and
family problem solving and decision making. This workshop benefits
employers by decreasing the loss in productivity in the workplace
and high absenteeism often caused by an employee's problems in
the family and at home.

TIPS
(Training for Intervention Procedures) is the global
leader in education and training for the responsible service,
sale, and consumption of alcohol. Proven effective by third-party
studies, TIPS is a skills-based training program that is
designed to prevent intoxication, underage drinking, and
drunk driving.

Restaurants/Bars:
The On Premise program is a five-hour program designed for
servers at restaurants, bars, hotels or any other establishment
where alcohol is consumed on the premises. Employees learn
strategies for serving alcohol responsibly while providing
the best possible customer service.
Convenience/Grocery:
The Off Premise program is a three-hour program addressing
the sale of alcohol at grocery stores, liquor stores, convenience
and package stores. Clerks learn strategies for preventing
illegal alcohol sales to underage and/or intoxicated patrons.
University: The University
program is a two-hour program tailored for students at universities
and colleges. This program gives students the skills they
need to intervene with their peers in social situations
to prevent alcohol-related incidents.
